Hope 2020 is off to a good start for you all! It’s been too long since I posted here! It’s always the last thing on my ‘to do’ list but I think it’s time to start sharing the fuller stories again. In saying that, I’m starting small with this beautiful, little pre-wedding session on Inis Mór with Kieran and Aaron.
They travelled with family from the states for their Iran Islands destination wedding. Kieran and Aaron had looked at different locations in Ireland for their wedding including the world-famous Cliffs of Moher. But the decided on the Aran Islands which is less busy but with just as much of that Irish wild and rugged beauty.
I arrived off the ferry the evening before the wedding and found these two taking a bike ride around the island! We decided there was enough time to head up to the Black Fort for a few photos. What a sweet session that was.
There’s nowhere quite like this ancient, magical place of forts and stone rings. It is out on western edges of Ireland and hasn’t changed much in it’s landscape in hundreds of years. The mode of transport is bikes with no cars allowed. The cliff edges have been battered by those big, atlantic waves and have a unique shape. They look almost man-made in their column-like form crumbling off in great black blocks into the sea below. The land is a grid of small, stone-walled allotments hinting at the time when place was more densely populated.
On this mild, summer night walking up the stony path through the hills there was nothing and no one except the odd mildly-amused sheep. There’s so much joy and cosy feels in these photos. Definitely worth sharing a few. A pre-wedding session the night before is a great idea and a great way to break the ice and get comfortable in front of the camera and with your photographer!
