” From the top of the sky to the dirt under my feet
With all of my heart, I know I’m where I should be
I’ll follow the stars, follow the stars with you
This is the perfect day
I wanna make it last forever”

On the 17 April last year I received an email from a fella called Conor from Belfast, who had just got engaged to a girl from the states. They just wanted to have an engagement shoot here to mark the occasion. I almost didn’t take the booking because at that time of year I’m booked full with weddings. But there was something about that email, I liked the sound of Conor, and I liked the way he spoke of Alise. It made me say ‘yes’. That was the best ‘yes’ I’ve ever said. (Except maybe that one years ago to Dessie) After that email, I received one from Alise asking if I could come and do the whole wedding. I said yes again of course.
This is a mahoosive-swoonfest of a blog. I sometimes have to pinch myself when I look at these photos. Was I really just weeks ago shooting this amazing wedding in Georgia?
Alise has been like a fairy godmother to me. She made dreams come true by asking me to shoot this. And thank-you to Conor also for always putting his trust in me from the very first email. I hope I help make dreams come true for them too with these photos. You can read how things began for them here.
We received such a warm welcome from both families when we arrived in America. It was a proper ‘southern welcome’. Alise’s family are very close and I felt at home with them. I honestly felt like I was shooting this wedding for friends. Even though this was a happy celebration for them, it was a heartbreaking ‘goodbye’ as well because Alise is moving to Ireland. It is Georgia’s loss and our gain in having her here. Such a gorgeous and talented girl. I’ll be delighted to have her close by for cups of coffee and chats:)
There is so much I could say about this wedding, and about these two beautiful people, but the story is in the photos. This wedding theme was a mixture of ‘old world’ southern charm with a nod to the Irish. Can you believe Alise styled and created everything for this wedding herself? EVERYTHING. She enlisted the help of lots of close friends to pull it all together. When you put all the work in yourself, you value it more. Alise put a whole lot of thought into the details so I put a whole lot effort into photographing it all. But really, I would have needed about a week! I hope she brings those wedding talents to this side of the water! The essential thing was, there was a little bit of love and a little bit of them in every single piece, whether it was old, new or handmade. They made this wedding well and truly their own.
Love you both.
