Ciaran & Debbie

What a beautiful wedding to finish 2011 with. It’s a wedding after my own heart. Not just for the styling, but for the warm and friendly people I was working with the whole day. We even had a little bit of glorious Autumn sunshine at the Dunadry (one of my favourite venues). I really do love Debbie and Ciaran. They open their hearts to me and it is so easy to see how strong they are together. They enjoyed this day. Every single moment of it.  How wonderful it must be to have your love for each other celebrated and affirmed by all those you care most for in the world.

I’m eight years into marriage looking back, and thinking, if  I could have another wedding, this is how I would want it. Not just for the styling, although I loved it, but for the joy and the togetherness. Debbie’s very talented mum made all the dresses. The flowers were to die for, the stationery… In fact, I was ooohing and aaahing alot during this wedding at so many beautiful details.

At this time of the year, I often look back at my work and think about the changes I should make for the next year.  I worry about new trends and Wedding fashions. I feel I need to change for the sake of change. But looking over these photos now, I realise that weddings, pretty as they are, are all about the beauty of family love, moments, connections and stories. Those things will never date, and I’ve decided I’m happy to continue on this journey in 2012.

Sometimes I never know what I’m going to write about a wedding until I start to write. I don’t think anything I say here will encompass all the emotion, the beauty, and the joy of this day.  I knew from the engagement session that this wedding was going to be a treat. Cheriee changed her Wedding date to suit me so I’m totally overwhelmed at the trust she had in me to shoot this wedding in a way that they would love. These two are so ‘into’ each other. Just being around them makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. Cheriee was just bubbling with excitement from morning to night. Although she couldn’t stop herself dress-fixing with the bridesmaids – it comes with the job. She put all the little sequins on the straps herself. She owns Cameo Bridal in Portrush so I was very excited to see her dress choice and the style of the Wedding. And it was the perfect choice. Absolutely stunning. I have to say, the florist did an amazing job on this also. You can see it all in the photos as I have posted alot!  Of course it rained all afternoon and into the evening, but that didn’t matter as we had the whole of the magnificent Belfast Castle to ourselves:) I also met a very cute and adorable little pageboy called Ewan who almost stole the show. I could fill an album with Ewan alone:) And with all these grooms being farmers, I’m learning alot of agricultural facts. I know that the ewes went to the rams on the day that Peter and Cheriee got married! I think that’s right. Or maybe the rams went to the ewes…  Anyway, I’m going to stop talking and let you enjoy the pictures.

Nuala and Matt married

I was determined to finish Nuala and Matt’s blogpost today. Really determined, although it is now tomorrow.  I had a fantastic break with my friends in Lough Erne Resort this week which was 100% relaxation so I am now making up for it with 100% work. I am completely talked out. When photographers get together we have to make up for all the office chat that we don’t get on a daily basis.

Nuala and Matt have a lovely story. They’ve been together a long time and grew up on the same street! Matt lives at No.8 and Nuala lives at No.4. I got to visit both of them on the morning of the Wedding. Nuala didn’t tell me how interesting her house is. It is literally like walking into a gallery. So much original art everywhere. Her mum is a collector.  I really wish I had more time to study it all.  We didn’t have far to go to the Chapel either. Just around the corner, and then on out the road to the Carlton Redcastle for partying. Of course the rain made an appearance but that’s all part of the memories now. If you live in Northern Ireland you have to expect some rain this year on your Wedding day.

I’m very jealous that Matt and Nuala jetted off to Las Vegas after the Wedding and left rainy Ireland behind! Here’s a snippet of the day.

I’ve another beautiful Wedding-share today. I think there might be more than a few people up in Maghera waiting to see some photees :)

John and Leanne make such a lovely couple. You might remember them from the farm shoot. Although I don’t expect Leanne will be doing much ‘mucking out’ now that they’re married! But there is no doubt these two are so right for each other. They even had the same surname – before they were married.  They are great people to be in the company of, as are their whole family. I had to eat a second breakfast at Leanne’s house in the morning. There was just no way I was being allowed to leave without food and tea :) And I love it at the house when everyone is having a good time, chilling out and enjoying the wedding morning.

Leanne and John’s Wedding had a real flavour of modern elegance blended seamlessly with elements of the traditional.  Leanne looked ‘jaw-droppingly’ stunning in Ian Stuart and Jenny Packham details. I’m sure she literally glowed on the day of her wedding. Leanne’s comes from a musical household. Hence the cufflinks with guitars for her brother and the piano for her Dad. I think my favourite moment was when her brother sang for her in the Church:) Also, the speeches were quite hilarious. As I shoot a whole lot of weddings with ‘agricultural’ connections, I’m really starting to get with some of these farming jokes.

After the ceremony in their hometown of Maghera, we travelled up to An Grianan Hotel in Donegal for the reception. I had a fantastic day shooting this wedding. Between the style, the laughter, the details, the love… it’s made for a long blogpost.

Stephen & Jenny

It’s been a busy few Summer months for me. As much as I enjoy photographing weddings and revealing all the loveliness of them on this blog, rest assured, there is a mountain of work going on behind the scenes. Editing takes a long time and blogposts even longer. So if you are waiting on your photosession or album design, it will be with you soon. Autumn is here and the kids are back to school. I’m at last able to do some regular hours during the day, in a perfectly peaceful house. Just me, the radio and the dog snoozing at my feet. And lots of coffee!
If variety is the spice of life then I’m definitely in the right job!
From vintage country Wedding style on Friday, to the glamour and chic of Stephen and Jenny’s big day at the Manor Park Hotel on Saturday. They didn’t have an engagement shoot so they are new faces to the blog. Jenny did tell me she was worried about getting her picture taken, shy and feeling a bit unsure of herself in front of the camera. I can relate to that. I’m the very same. But Jenny was an absolutely *stunning* bride and had absolutely nothing to worry about. The venue she chose perfectly matched her style too.  And the sun even made an appearance for them!
