
The bigger your children get, the more you appreciate the smallness of when they were new, and the bonds that began in those first few days of life together. There is so much beauty in that bond. When I’m photographing these moments, more than anything else, I feel like I’ve come home.
Isabelle is a gorgeous baby. From the soft silky cap of dark hair, the smiling slant of her dark eyes, to the tiny puckered frown - newborn sweetness. She loves the sound of her mother’s voice and I think she understands Afrikaans:) She’s been inside, growing and listening :)
I did not want to part with one photo on this session. Everything seems too important. Every detail.
Years from now, when Isabelle is an independent grown up girl, these early memories will be irreplaceable.
I’ve always thought family photographs, should not only remind you of how you looked, but of how you loved. I hope just maybe there is a little bit of that here.
