Take my picture

Kids will always surprise you.

I was in my room on Saturday morning messing about with the camera, minding my own business when in walks Seanan.

“What ya doin Mum?”

“Taking pictures of the beads on the quilt son. They look nice in the light.”

“Will you take my picture please Mum?”

“Sure!”

Now, if I had have asked him to let me take his picture he would have had something much more important to do immediately. So I took a shot of him, then another. I began to notice that every time he heard the shutter, he changed his pose! Just slight changes. Tilting his head toward the light more, moving his arm positions, looking away, looking down… I was trying sooo hard to look serious at this stage and keep it going. Inside I was in tears of laughter.

Then I did a ‘Tyra’ on him.

“Seanan, can you give me sad?. Now give me fierce. How about Angry? Happy. Crazy.!” I got all this out of him.

Five minutes later, he was back to ‘Ben 10 and the Alien Force’…

We can only assume someone has been watching too much ANTM with Mum.  And I thought he wasn’t paying attention! I am now having visions of my son 20 years from now with bleached white hair, perma-tan and eyebrows plucked to within an inch of thier lives. Rolling his eyes to heaven he’s shouting at some Brazilian goddess,

“Girl, you wanna be on top?, you need to smile with your eyes more!” :)

Claire & Joe

I’ve been doing alot of engagement shoots these weekends before I get busy doing the weddings!

On Saturday I had a session with Claire and Joe who are getting married in July and heading to the lovely Corick House. I’m looking forward to it. Everyone likes the quiet forest parks for their engagements at the moment. For a change the ground wasn’t soggy. Yay!

You couldn’t meet warmer, lovelier people than these two. They are so comfortable with each other and great fun too. I enjoyed getting to know them better before their big day. Claire is a cat person – like me :)  I think her wee cat sounds like the luckiest alive!

Claire, I hope your a whole lot more relaxed about the whole picture-taking thing now!

Thankful

I’ve spent all of today under a furry blanket on the couch with the family watching movies. I’m exactly where I want to be. This is perfect contentment.

Niamh fell asleep beside me. I love watching my children sleep. Studying every tiny piece. My heart just fills up. Of course I couldn’t resist taking this image of a favourite detail. Soft, dark, curling lashes and honeybee hair. I’m sure all parents believe that their sleeping child is the most beautiful creation ever!

These are the simple things that make us hard-working Mums so very thankful for having the most rewarding job in the world.

Happy Mother’s Day.x

Apologies for the delay on blog posts. I’m working my way through them!

Last week I introduced little Billy. Now its time to share some more of him in all his nine-day-old-gorgeousness.  He was all snoozy and warm for his photoshoot. Perfect! I adore everything about newborns. The flakes, the fuzz, the creases, the frowns, the smiles, the dimples, the softness… just celebrating all the itty bitty details that we want to cherish forever.

Susanna

Susanna is turning 21!

What better way to celebrate your birthday than getting a hair, makeup and beauty treatment, finished off with a fabulous photoshoot. We caught some beautiful rays on Saturday evening, although it was freezing! Susanna was a real trooper and I didn’t see her shiver once. All hair and makeup was provided by The Juli Anne Health & Beauty Retreat and we just had the shoot in and around the grounds. There were so many great features for shots I would have needed a few more hours to cover them all! Really liked the tyres in the backyard. Something different to try. Susanna did her own styling on the clothes. Loved it.

I remember starting out in photography and being so afraid of the sun. Not knowing how to work around it. Now, I wish for it.x
