I’m absolutely lovin these dry December days before Christmas.
Saturday evening was particularly sweet with a beautiful sherbet sky providing a backdrop for Mark and Claire’s pre-wedding shoot. Claire and Mark are getting married next year in Lusty Beg so I thought our own local lakes here would be perfect for their practice session. They have been together for years and photographing couples who are just so comfortable and relaxed with each other like this is always wonderful. I could have chatted to them for ages too. Claire and I both understand what its like to live with a Liverpool fan and their mood swings. But then again, Mark has to live with Twilight. I could see his eyes glazing over as we chatted like giddy teenagers about the new film!
Here are some of the photos from the session…

I just love this moment…

Gosh how time flies! Meant to post this stuff ages ago but I’ve been very, very busy of late. I’m working on a whole series of images documenting the current exhibition at the FE McWilliam Gallery in Banbridge. But here are some shots from the recent edition of GMINI magazine. Thanks to the wonderful models as always – Jenny Curran, Caroline Davis and Jovita Gliozeryte and, of course, editor Claire Martin for pulling everything together perfectly.

I’m like a farmer. Always weather-watching these days. I nearly choked on my cornflakes when I checked out my dashboard this morning. Am I awake? Could it be true? No rain! I had to check that it was definitely still the forecast for Belfast on the widget. This is a first, so of course its worth going on the blog.
I have a busy weekend of exciting shoots over the next few days so I’ve been asking Santa for good weather. Looks like he was listening. Now I’m going to start wishing for a white Christmas…

I had so much fun with these two sweet little ladies last week. Cute and cuddly sisters in all their gorgeous winter knits. Perfect for freezing, outdoor photoshoots at this time of the year. Holly is such a lovely big sister and really watches out for Aimee. You can tell they are the best of friends.

Post Ed: Just had to correct the spelling Aimee’s name. I’m such a dope.
Last Sunday afternoon I met with Darren and Donna for an engagement session in the woods. It was cold, REALLY cold, but apart from that, perfect conditions for a shoot. You know, when it isn’t raining, flooding, windy, dark, foggy, or generally miserable, winter afternoons can be a great time of the year for pictures. But be quick, as the dark sets in fast and then the magic is gone. I do love the little red berries on the trees, the leaves on the ground, the cool mossy greens against the warm browns, the sun low in the sky and peeking through the bare trees – making everything in its path glow golden. Darren and Donna are getting married married next December so we decided it would be nice to have their engagement at this time of year also. They were great, and laugh alot together, which always makes a photographer’s day. I do hope they haven’t caught the cold though! We had a few episodes. I was sliding everywhere (footless as I am), nearly went into the river a few times, and Donna nearly lost her engagement ring! If she had have dropped it in those leaves I don’t think we would ever have found it. When I think about it, that could have been a different engagement shoot altogether.
