Jamie

Last week I met little Jamie who had his first photo shoot at the tender age of six days old. He melted my heart as soon as I had him in my arms. Such a perfect little man. Jamie loves his milk and cuddles and as soon as he was full up he was happy to let us pose him for shots. He has two beautiful sisters who are soooo excited to have a new little brother in their family. They were all such beautiful kids and I was feeling a little bit broody on the way back. But it only took about ten minutes back home to shake that notion…it looked like we had been burgled! I think my troublesome two are enough to keep me busy for a while. But looking at Jamie’s photos reminds how special and wonderful brand new babies are and also how quickly they grow up…

Erin and Orla

I had a fun time taking photographs of Erin and Orla at the weekend. Erin is especially comfortable in front of the camera! They are getting so grown up so its great to capture them at this fun age. Orla and Erin have totally different personalities. Erin likes shopping, clothes, accessories and make-up whereas Orla prefers football and wrestling and will rarely be seen without a soccer ball and a pair of trainers on!
They have a different approach to poses too…

Big brothers love to torture their younger sisters. I had forgotten about this until recently when I witnessed Seanan’s antics with Niamh. He will put a toy out within eye range for her like a little lure. She spots it, gets all excited, and starts making her way over from across the room slowly and steadily. Just as her little fingers reach for it he’ll pull it out of the way just to see the reaction. Niamh likes to let wail at the smallest things so you can imagine how annoying this is for her! I seem to be constantly negotiating a deal. I find myself sounding like my mother regularly now. ‘Don’t make me go in there’…’It’s all going to end in tears’…’if you can’t play nice…

Ciara

Recently I had wonderful portrait session with Ciara Campbell at Ballydougan Pottery.
Last year I attended throwing classes at the pottery and found it to be alot harder than it looks! Ciara makes it look easy and I was absolutely amazed at her skill on the wheel. I was very excited to go back and photograph her practising her craft. There is such delicacy and grace involved that it truly is fascinating to photograph. Thanks to the pottery and to Ciara for allowing me to capture it.

For some of these images I have taken a more classical painterly approach and used textures and earthy tones as it suits the subject…
