It’s been quiet on the blogging front this week I know.

I’m going to be pretty busy behind the camera in the month of October so I have been taking a little break this week as I’ll be probably be blogging like crazy pretty soon.

When I say I’ve been taking a break what I really mean is…
Giving the house a good clean, raking leaves and making up lots of freezable dinners. In my quest to be a proper text book mum I even made an apple and cinamon pie. (Although it didn’t taste like apple or cinamon!) The kids and myself are spending lots of evenings reading about the gruffalo, iggle piggle, lucy ladybeetle, andy ant, charlie and lola. Senan is getting really excited about halloween approaching.
I love chatting to him these days as conversations with ‘nearly three year olds’ are so interesting and also very hilarious. He is really starting to think about the world and you never know what the next question will be. I took a few shots of Senan during one of our chats. He was pondering why the cat next door had only three legs but could still run faster than our cat?

Other bits from this week…

Been working really hard on Purehome Interiors Magazine so the winter issue can hit the shelves on time.
Note to Emma (Our editor) If you are reading this can you please check my spelling and grammar as I’m sure its atrocious (spell: attrocious?)

Niamh must be getting some more teeth through because she has been so grumpy and refuses to go to sleep without at least 30 minutes of shouting. Please let those teeth be there in the morning!

Really enjoyed Snow Patrol’s performance on the live lounge, Radio One this week.
Their cover of ‘One day like this’ was absolutely beautiful.

Ordering up a batch of winter beanies and baby wraps from Julie this week to feed my woolly addiction.
Had thoughts about knitting my own hats too but being realistic this is not going to happen!

The little fairy

Little Nola posed for me recently and I had to try out these wings on her. She is so sweet and adorable and if those ‘bambi eyes’ don’t melt your heart I don’t know what would – they are the most striking colour too. She had fun dressing up and I promised her there would be some real angel-feather wings here for the next time she visits! I’m hoping this image has a dreamy, fantasy-feel to it – almost like an illustrated character from one of her bedtime books.
Now where did we put the fairy dust…

This is the best ammunition Senan has for getting things his way. I give in every time when he pulls this face. How does he get his bottom lip that far out! I’m gonna have to toughen up. Its true when they say that children are cute for a reason!

homelife

I have to admit to Autumn being my favourite time of the year. I love the crisp, cold, windy days and the leaves changing colour. Senan seems to enjoy it too and he had a good time yesterday playing with leaves in the garden. Its also great for taking photos outside – I can’t wait to get their colourful chunky knits on! As long as the rain stays away…

This is our cat. She is an old girl and sulks around the garden trying to go unnoticed. She tolerates humans as they can be useful but is terribly anti-social and wants nothing to do with the other lowlife felines in the neighbourhood. She is much too important to put up with any nonsense and not easily amused.

I spotted a beautiful, vintage, pewter and pearl dresser frame in Accessorize the other day and I think this image will be perfect for it…

This is my favourite time of the day – bliss…

Niamh waits until Senan is asleep to repay him for standing on her, squashing her, taking her toys, taking delight in making her cry, and other small tortures that brothers inflict. I don’t think its bothering him though. He can sleep through anything!

I thought it was time to give credit where credit is due to these amazing, artistic, totally dedicated, inspirational, awesome photographers. Their work constantly inspires me, leaves me speechless, touches my heart, brings me to tears, makes me laugh and keeps me wanting more.

For newborn photography Kristen Cook has to be at the top of my list. She makes it look so easy and her images are always so perfect.

For people portraits and weddings I always keep an eye on Denise Bovee. Her style is effortless and very distinctive as she shoots into the sun and uses its light to great effect.

For weddings, family, portrait, quirky moments, creativity, fun and pure enjoyment it has to be Amelia Lyon.

I love Sarah Gardner’s classical, fine art school approach to her work. For her the photograph seems to be the bare bones and what she does at the processing stage is where the art really takes shape.
Thanks also to Sarah for the support and encouragement.

Eolo Perfido would have to be the most outstanding fashion photographer of our time for me. His style is so distinctive and I feel sometimes that I am being transported to another place in time when I see his beautiful images. The mood, tone, styling are always excellent.

You could say this is quite a varied range of styles but I guess there is a favourite photographer for every mood. We really do live in an exciting time when we can share our work with contemporaries across the globe and seek inspiration and encouragement from people from all cultures and walks of life.

To all these photographers and to my flickr friends – thanks for sharing.
