My new friend arrived yesterday and it’s like Christmas for me here today. I stayed up late last night just to play with it. The imac was something I have been needing for quite some time at as my old computer was starting to sound like it was in alot of pain doing even the most simple tasks. So it has been put into early retirement in the spare room!
I just can’t stop admiring the mac…it really is so stylish. I know I’m a complete nerd but shoes, handbags, clothes… I just don’t get that same buzz!!

I bought these little wings for a newborn shoot and of course I couldn’t help trying them out on Niamh. She is so chubby at the moment and looks so cute in them!
Step 1. Grab hold of the edge of toy box in a kneeling position and lift right leg, place right foot firmly on the floor…
Step 2. Pull up steadily and carefully still holding with both hands. Bring left foot up and place flat on the floor beside right foot…
Step 3. Check position and steady oneself. When ready, reach for toy with one hand whilst using the other hand for support…
Try to climb into toybox, lose balance, drop toy on floor and repeat steps one to three as above…
“Picture-making has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember –
it just changes form.”
From an early age I have felt the urge to record life around me in pictures. I have done this with many tools… from finger to crayon, from brush to clay, from pencil to mouse… but nothing has fired me as much as the digital camera. This fire did not spark immediately. Although photography was one of my specialisms during my degree in visual communication I followed a career path towards illustration and design. I have been a designer now for over 14 years, and most of that time has being spent in publishing and magazine design. Within this field of work I have built the groundwork for my style as a photographer without even being aware of it learning about photo-editing, image-manipulation, colour, tone, composition and most importantly how to use pictures to tell a story.
With the arrival of my children and the purchase of my canon dslr camera the stars aligned and my life as a photographer came to be. Every moment was special to me, every detail, the first smiles, new teeth, tiny dimples, chubby rolls, first steps, first bikes… big kisses, the outstretched arms for a hug, tears… and so much more. I wanted to record and capture it all. Moments are fleeting and life is everchanging… these were the memories I wanted to hold on to forever.
‘I saw the light…’
Suddenly the world around me and the people in it became much more interesting – I wondered about their special moments and could I capture their life and loves, and maybe a little bit of who they really are in a picture?
Also at that point everything I knew as an artist started to become relevant. The importance of light and how it could really effect an image. To me natural light is the most magical and the most beautiful. I have always endeavoured to use natural/available light whether indoors or outside on location.
Photography has allowed me to capture my family’s story as it still unfolds – I would love to be able to do the same for others. You could say I am totally passionate about what I do. Photography has become a necessity for me and I can’t imagine being without a camera now. It certainly doesn’t feel like work. If you were to ask me about my style I would say that its sometimes fun, upbeat and vibrant, sometimes dreamy and romantic and soft. But this very much depends on the client and their session… Everybody has a different story to tell.
If children live with tolerance
They learn to be patient.
If children live with encouragement
They learn confidence
If children live with praise
They learn to appreciate
If children live with fairness
They learn justice
If children live with security
They learn to have faith
If children live with approval
They learn to like themselves
If children live with acceptance and friendship
They learn to find love in the world.
To Seanan.
Love you son.
